A function within the Finance Organization, Balance Sheet Governance (BSG) governs the comprehensive health of the organization’s balance sheet, as well as the associated financial reporting of the ledger balances, risk, and associated breaks. A primary objective of the Finance Organization is to have a “bulletproof” Balance Sheet, with enhanced controls, reporting, reconciliation and escalation processes. The Finance Organization is committed to moving Citi forward as the class-leader amongst our peers in Financial Control and Balance Sheet Management. 

Balance Sheet Governance Lead Analyst

The BSG team is a strategic component of the organization's vision, leveraging its change management and transformational core skill sets. This analysis, change/project management role is responsible for execution and supporting oversight of critical initiatives within the Finance Substantiation team. The role will lead small to medium projects independently and co-lead/support management of large scale change initiatives.

The position will include:

  • On-going maintenance and enhancement of Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Substantiation (BSRS) Policy and Procedure
  • Driving Compliance Monitoring around Balance Sheet Reconciliation and substantiation processes
  • Supporting/Driving Policy Training by working with learning and development teams
  • Corrective Action Plan Tracking and Escalation, working with Business Leads
  • Partner with Business/Functions/Controllers on all Balance Sheet Reconciliation related matters
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) review on selected samples
  • Working with business area and other support functions to ensure adherence to Balance Sheet standards/policies
  • Providing advisory/guidance on issue investigation/resolution
  • Ensuring issues identified are resolved or escalated accordingly
  • Driving initiatives around the generation of consolidated Balance Sheet Reconciliation metrics and exception reporting for key forums
  • Supporting ongoing enhancements to stakeholder reporting processes
  • Assessing ad-hoc reporting requests and working with support functions on effective utilization of self-service tools being developed
  • Working with Digital team to automate and enhance reporting being performed

Ideal background:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, certification or Master’s degree in relevant field a plus.
  • 6-10 years of experience in financial services field/Risk and Control field.
  • Experience in writing and managing Policies preferred but not required
  • Excellent management presentation skills (PowerPoint, Project plan and Status reporting, Executive presence)
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding relationship building and management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on advanced MS Excel
  • Ability to balance multiple initiatives within a portfolio of concurrent projects
  • Understanding process flows, risk analysis/mitigation, and ensuring controls are in compliance with all internal guidelines/requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with pivot tables, charts, and data visualization
