The Finance Reporting Subject Matter Expert (SME) position’s primary objective is the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of regulatory and management reports in accordance with processes established by Citi’s Global Regulatory and Management Policy (GRMRP) and regulations published by local Regulators. The SME also acts as an advisor to Regulatory Reporting Managers and Report Production Leads and a coach to Finance Reporting Analysts.
What you’ll do:
- Support the preparation, analysis, and submission of reports to various constituencies (local regulators, SEC, Fed, OCC, etc.) based on requirements such as IFRS, US GAAP, US Regulatory, local statutory reporting, local regulations over statistical, prudential and liquidity reporting.
- Ensure report production controls stipulated by GRMRP, Global Regulatory and Management Reporting Risk and Control Standard and EMEA local regulatory reporting guidelines are established and executed. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Review manual adjustments posted during local regulatory and management report preparation, support investigation and resolution of underlying errors.
- Support and provide advice on End-User Computing (EUC) identification, registrations, controls, and retirement efforts.
- Ensure cross report validations are implemented in line with published regulatory validation rules.
- Ensure data reconciliations and variance analysis are performed.
- Support analysis of financial results and conclude cause of variances such as accounting issues and economic events.
- Ensure changes are timely implemented.
- Escalate control deficiencies and propose corrective action.
- Lead corrective actions to remediate control deficiencies. Support control testing.
- Support first, second and third line of defense control testing and audit.
- Drive interaction with country teams and cluster reporting & control leads.
- Support system implementation projects and automation efforts targeting the elimination of EUCs that impact EMEA local regulatory reporting processes.
- Produce metrics to senior management highlighting key issues and remediation status and maintain and enhance related operational and analytical procedures.
- Assist in the development of process efficiencies and improvement efforts as well as data quality improvement projects.
- Support team managers in people management with coaching, training juniors.
What we’ll need from you:
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Financial Services Industry experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel.
- Working knowledge of related industry practices and standards.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning & organisational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within tight deadlines.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree in Finance, Accounting, Controlling or equivalent experience.
- Fluent English skills
