Valuation Control Lead Analyst -Product Methodologies and International Legal Entity Controls

The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is responsible for reviewing and reporting fair value inventory consistently across all asset classes and Legal Entities (LEs). VCG is structured into the following key teams:

  • Asset Class (Product) Teams
  • Design & Execution (D&E)
  • Methodology:
    • Product Methodologies (including both Fair Value and Prudent Valuation) and Legal Entity Controls
    • Valuations Policy
    • Audit & Regulatory

Core responsibilities of VCG:

  • IPV (Independent Price Verification)
  • Fair Value Adjustments (Bid-Offer, Model, Trade Specific)
  • FVH (fair value Hierarchy) Levelling
  • Prudent Valuation
  • Valuation Uncertainty
  • New Trade/Product Approvals and New Model Approvals
  • Overhedges governance
  • External, Internal and Regulatory Audits
  • MI (Management Information) reporting
  • A wide range of projects
  • Industry wide engagement

Role Overview: This role sits within the Product Methodology (covering both Fair Value and Prudent Valuation) and Legal Entity Controls team. It offers broad exposure to all asset classes and provides an excellent platform for career development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the primary VCG contact for the Legal Entities in scope
  • Define and maintain a consistent governance and control framework for the legal entity; represent VCG in the legal entity governance forums.
  • Collaborate with all VCG product-aligned and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting for the relevant Legal Entities
  • Provide execution and subject matter expertise for input variables production used (e.g. scalars) in the Prudent Valuation process
  • Conduct thematic analyses and identify trends in the IPV, VA, FVH, Pruval across various dimensions such as Legal Entities, business and products.

Who are we looking for?

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a valuation, risk or product control related discipline with a strong interest in the financial markets and the evolving regulatory landscape
  • A team player who embraces knowledge sharing within the team and helps to establish and maintain a high-performance culture in the team
  • Actively seeks opportunities for improvement, automation, sources of new ideas and approaches leading to performance improvement
  • A people-oriented individual who can influence, motivate and establish partnerships with stakeholders to drive progress
  • Ability to work independently and resolve unstructured problems
  • Experience of using data analytics tools such as KNIME, Python, Tableau and VBA for Excel
