Meetings & Events Cluster Manager - (Senior Vice President)
A seasoned event subject matter expert and established trusted advisor with a demonstrated history of developing and executing best-in-class events for senior stakeholders including C-suite and board level clientele.
The Meetings & Events Cluster Manager is responsible for managing / supporting a team of event professionals, and will take a lead role in project planning and execution, stakeholder management, and budgeting for events that enable Citi’s strategic vision. This role requires strong collaboration and influencing skills, highly developed communication skills, with strong ownership and focus. The role also requires experience working with cross cultural teams and stakeholders across geographies and time-zones to support the delivery of high-quality events.
Business / Team Overview:
The Global Event Marketing group is comprised of dedicated professionals and skilled event managers who work across geographies and businesses to create, plan and execute meetings/events that achieve business goals.
Some of the key responsibilities in the role:
- Collaborate and own relationships with business partners across multiple levels to develop event marketing project objectives and strategies, program content, logistics, and methods to help drive results.
- Manages and directs all event elements from conception to measurement, including but not limited to strategy, event logistics, project management, vendor partnerships, production, registration and hospitality, data gathering/reporting, cross-business partnering and ROI, creating event marketing efficiencies for Citi across all business units.
- Develops creative solutions and approaches to producing events that meet business requirements while leveraging and maintaining the marketing, branding and financial goals of the firm.
- Lead event project teams to build a collaborative working environment, build credibility and trust, define clear roles and drive results. Provide coaching and support to team members when needed to ensure their success and supervise on-site/ project team in all facets of event execution.
- Ability to review and negotiate vendor contracts to receive the best possible rates and terms – excellent negotiating skills are a must.
- Maintain accurate budgets for events, manage metrics with regular reporting to stakeholders.
- Support all Citi Operating Expense Governance Policy initiatives, event risk evaluations; reconcile program invoices, manage payments, and event final cost reporting.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance, rules and regulations and adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

What knowledge, skills and experience we’ll need from you
- A seasoned Event Manager with at least 15 years of experience preferably in corporate events from the financial or services industry, of which at least 5 years managing a team.
- Proven track record in project managing and executing complex, high profile events with a range of attendees, budgets and functionality.
- Demonstrated leadership skills – working with global stakeholders, people management, strong influencing skills and experience in C-suite level interactions.
- Collaborative team player orientation; willing to work with colleagues and external partners globally in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Must be able to handle multiple high visibility projects simultaneously and have the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of latest event trends, industry innovations and technologies.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret data and create high level summaries, rationales and detailed reports.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal and written. Must have proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage.
- Flexibility in work hours - must be able to work non-traditional hours and weekends and have a flexible travel schedule when required.
- Must be willing to travel 25-35% of time.
