Vice President - Syndicate Operations Head - Getzville (Hybrid)

Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets and Investment Banking businesses and have significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Banking Deal teams, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a client relationship group, dedicated to overseeing the Organizational service performance and strategic partnership for our top tier client base, where we play a key role in supporting our global clients to ensure they have a first-class experience when doing business with Citi.
Our Business Execution and Transformations groups works alongside our Operations teams delivering automation solutions to solve for operational challenges. We partner with Citi’s innovation labs to drive optimization, and overall play a pivotal role in enabling us to transform to achieve our target operating model.
Our Technology partners develop and implement a wide range of applications that support the Operations, Change, Design, and Implementation groups in providing innovative products and solutions. We have re-imagined how to provide technology and service in our domain through the alignment of our team vision, culture, and aggressive retirement plan for legacy applications and adoption of a micro-based containerized cloud environment. The Role:
The Buffalo Syndicate Operations Head will report to the NAM Syndicate Operations Head. The Candidate will be based in Buffalo, NY and will lead our Syndicate Operations staff supporting the Debt (DCM) and Equity (ECM) Investment Banking business and Markets Global Spread products Primary issuance businesses.
This remit spans both Syndicate Middle Office and Settlement staff, leading a diverse team of eight people in our Buffalo site. This is a Series 99 Supervisory role overseeing covered functions spanning Pre-Deal & Instrument Setup; Trade Management, Syndicate Deal Final Settlement; Front to Back Reconciliations, pricing date deal related regulatory filings and post trade Trace & Prospectus exception management.
Our Syndicate Settlement Staff are responsible for coordinating logistics surrounding deal pipeline spanning account setup, SSI maintenance, Timely settlement associated exception monitoring.
Job Purpose
Function as key escalation point and face off to Investment Banking and Markets Banking teams whilst working closely with each of the broader operational components that support both businesses that are co-located in our Buffalo location to ensure a seamless front to back process and service offering.
The Candidate's primary objectives will be to:
- Direct supervision of groups daily processes & front to back controls, checklists, and Control Dashboards
- Oversee timely and successful deal closing and final settlement functions by performing Supervisory review / sign off as part key Manual Payment Processing controls.
- Oversee other key areas of Control spanning Regulatory filing, Exceptions & Monitoring and MCA Completeness.
- Represent the group in key strategic initiatives which reduce Operational Touchpoints thus reducing processing and payment risk.
Organizational Oversight:
- Supervision of the groups daily core operations, championing a proactive culture and environment where processes, risks & controls are monitored continuously, and potential risks escalated on a timely basis.
- Assess and strengthen the teams control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Escalation point facing off to ECM/DCM/GSP businesses for Buffalo Syndicates Group.
- Face off with senior Business, Technology and Operations heads spanning pre-deal preparation and throughout the deal lifecycle to ensure successful closure of each Syndicate Deal.
People Agenda:
- Oversee development and cross training of the group, using depth chart / heatmaps and development plans to ensure appropriate continuity of Business and Succession plans.
- Coaching and mentoring our People. Ensuring effective one to one discussion. Providing direction, feedback, support, and encouragement for career development
Organizational Transformation:
- Partnering with business, Tech, Ops and Finance Stakeholder during re-engineering initiatives to strengthen the Buffalo teams process and reduce manual processing risk.
- Partnering with Global Syndicate Operations counterparts to drive / achieve global consistency.
- Representing Syndicate Operations as a key stakeholder in firm wide transformation initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ideally 5+ years of experience in Tier 1 global financial institutions with strong people management experience within Operations.
- Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise, who can advocate with senior management both in the business, Operations and Technology environments.
- Self-reliant, good analytical person, results oriented with strong awareness and a strong risk management and control mindset.

$92,000.00 - $138,000.00
