Guatemala Corporate FX Sales Head

As the Guatemala Corporate FX Sales Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the local FX Sales Team for Citi’s Corporate & Public Sector clients.

General Description:

The Corporate FX Sales Head is a fast-paced professional growth role in charge of managing all FX sales initiatives in Guatemala for Corporate and Public Sector Clients. This professional is responsible for managing FX products, implementing new strategies, and is expected to have a continuous interaction with clients. The Guatemala Corporate FX Sales Head is part of the Markets division of Citi, reporting directly to the Caribbean & Central America cluster Head working in close partnership with the local Markets Head. As a result, the position offers regional exposure and support, with many opportunities to grow while further developing current knowledge of the business, products, marketplace, and clients.

The role requires application of disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new opportunities for the clients and for the Bank. The role requires continuous interaction with other departments within Citi across different geographies, including New York offices. Therefore, it requires an in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates medium to highly complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information.

Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within working groups. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of this professional. The role has a significant degree of independence dealing with most problems and some latitude for solving complex situations. It requires a good understanding of how the team and the area integrate with others - front, middle, and back departments in accomplishing the objectives of the position. Application of analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools to enhance our Market share and find new opportunities. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams. Build relationships with clients and internal partners across Markets, Banking and Service areas to help source origination opportunities and promote cross selling. Facilitate innovation on the FX sales team to ensure timely execution. Originate and close Foreign Exchange transactions with Corporate and Public Sector clients.

The role holder should therefore be familiar with foreign exchange instruments and derivatives. The primary objective is to help the development of the Corporate Sales business, foster innovation and data analysis whilst delivering excellent service to address client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Markets’ products and solutions to large Corporate and Public Sector clients in Guatemala, with direct responsibility for the performance of all FX related solutions.
  • Originate and execute meaningful and landmark transactions covering the flow and FX Risk Management solutions.
  • Spearhead development of the solutions business in the country through proactive client contacting, providing market color, opinion, product training, and marketing Citi’s capabilities.
  • Aid achievement of specified goals in both market and wallet share for the identified client franchise.
  • Follow market trends and anticipate changes to identify opportunities for new products and solutions.
  • As FX Sales Head, lead and manage the team towards achievement of organizational goals.
  • Develop and execute integrated sales and marketing strategies that are aligned to sales goals and support sales service activities including legal, corporate, and regulatory.
  • Develop and implement sales plans to achieve all monthly and annual targets.
  • Partner closely with other key businesses and functions to ensure proper product deployment.
  • Help foster an environment of collaboration through interfacing with appropriate internal partners to enhance share of mind with clients, increase dialogue and to deliver on expertise.
  • Understand and analyze clients’ businesses and financial exposures to provide best suited hedging solutions in full coordination with all relevant business partners.
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Markets.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience
  • Previous experience in client-facing roles with proven track record on growing and maintaining relationships through value added service and commercial skills
  • An entrepreneurial approach for business origination and developing new relationships
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Proficiency in English
  • Must be able to write, read and speak English fluently


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
