About The Infrastructure Planning Organization

The Infrastructure Planning Organization is responsible for the strategic design, planning, and optimization of Citi’s global technology infrastructure. This organization ensures that Citi’s infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. It also oversees logistics functions, including capacity planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiencies to support Citi’s technology footprint. Additionally, the Infrastructure Planning Organization plays a key role in business intelligence, reporting, and dashboard development to provide data-driven insights that enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness. By leveraging data analytics and automation, the Infrastructure Planning Organization drives efficiency, innovation, and security across Citi’s technology landscape.

Role Overview

As a Data Engineer at Citi, you will play a crucial role in modernizing and optimizing the infrastructure planning organization's existing data architecture, databases, and systems. This role focuses on revising, innovating, and employing best practices to enhance the efficiency, integrity, and scalability of the data ecosystem that underpins our advanced analytics and business intelligence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable a seamless, secure, and high-performing data environment that supports our global business operations as we provide real-time, strategic insights, analyses, dashboards and visualizations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Optimization

  • Assess and refine existing data architectures to enhance performance, security, and scalability.
  • Modernize legacy database structures by implementing best practices for data modeling, integration, and management.
  • Improve and enforce data governance, metadata management, and data lineage frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Enhance business intelligence capabilities by refining data delivery for reporting, dashboarding, and data visualization solutions.

Data Engineering & Process Improvement

  • Optimize and enhance existing ETL/ELT pipelines for improved efficiency and performance.
  • Streamline and enhance data warehousing solutions using technologies
  • Improve real-time data processing and streaming solutions using industry leading technologies.
  • Enhance API-driven data access layers to facilitate more seamless integration between applications and data platforms.
  • Support the enhancement of automated reporting solutions and interactive dashboards to provide deeper business insights.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with business and technology stakeholders, including the Infrastructure Planning organization, to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and analysts.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, compliance, and risk teams to ensure data security and regulatory compliance across the Infrastructure Planning Organization’s data platforms.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related domain preferably within the financial services industry.

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and Java for data processing and analytics.
  • Deep knowledge of data modeling (relational and NoSQL), data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks and workflow orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into data solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$125,760.00 - $188,640.00
