Director - Credit Review Senior Group Manager
Global Risk Review (GRR) provides independent, objective, reliable, valued and timely assurance to the Boards, the Committees, the Citigroup Chief Risk Officer, the Citibank NA Chief Risk Officer, senior management and regulators over the effectiveness of credit, capital and collateral risk management and the ability of the Business and independent Risk Management to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging risks. Within GRR, the Banking & International Credit Risk (BICR) function provides an independent review and challenge of credit risk management.
The BICR Credit Review Team Manager serves as the Team Manager responsible for oversight of a team of Senior Lead Reviewers, including the execution of Business Monitoring and Reviews in accordance with the BICR Manual. The Team Manager provides direction, leadership, and guidance to the BICR Senior Lead Reviewers that:
- Monitor and evaluate Wholesale portfolios, strategies, and credit risks
- Assess the effectiveness of credit risk controls of assigned businesses
- Propose pragmatic solutions to risk and control issues
- Maintain ongoing contact with an entity through Business Monitoring and corrective action follow-up
- Develop and maintain the BICR Plan document, Sample Rationale Document, etc.
Key responsibilities:
- Accountable for results and management of assigned teams of Lead Reviewers
- Ensure that BICR documents that include Credit Assessment Documents, Review Plans, FCRPs, and Review Reports meet quality and consistency standards required by the BICR Manual and Review Guides
- Management of Markets segment BICR Review Entities through quarterly Business Monitoring and periodic Reviews
- Ensure that assessments of portfolios, credit risk processes, risk ratings and classifications, staffing models and others as related to Business Monitoring and Reviews are consistent and properly reported to senior management, Citi’s Boards of Directors, and regulators
- Approval of relationship-level file testing prepared by Reviewers
- Ensure that Corrective Action Plans are appropriate, monitored, and duly validated
- Assist in recruitment, talent development, and building an effective Review team
- Assist the Team Head of BICR in developing and executing the Review plan for the region
- Support the Team Head and the Head of Banking and International Credit Review on cluster and/or global tasks
- Support VOE initiatives for Global Risk Review
- Regularly interface with cluster senior business and risk managers
- Proactive communication to the Segment Head and GRR Management of any concerns and/or emerging risks that may jeopardize the assigned Review Entities
- Travel required (25% to 35%)
Knowledge/Experience:
- Good knowledge of Counterparty Credit Risk and Capital market products including Derivative Securities Financing Transactions, Debt Investment Securities or Hedge Funds etc.
- Demonstrable financial services experience including 15+ years of credit experience in Wholesale banking
- Work experience in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or similar with credit or financial statement analysis experience.
- Expert in risk analysis and risk management processes for one or more products and lending areas.
- Fully conversant in credit policy matters
- Ability to work at senior levels and build constructive and effective relationships with peers
- Expert in risk analysis and risk management processes for one or more products and lending areas
- Regulatory experience or relevant experience in a similar role at another institution is desirable
Skills/Competencies:
- Demonstrated success as a manager including a track record of building high performing teams and developing emerging VP/SVP level talent
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues
- Ability to recognize emerging risks, including operational risk.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and manage large review teams in different regions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships and exert influence without direct authority.
- Knowledge of Citi's organization and systems preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Qualifications:
- BA/BSc or higher degree in Business (MBA), Finance or any other related subject
- Senior Credit Officer qualification preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
