Virtualization and Image Focused Engineer - Hybrid -Irving) - SVP

The Virtualization and Image Focused Engineer is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to drive a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and deployment of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead efforts to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned framework.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the goals of functional area are delivered to appropriate Operations & Technology (O&T) organizations
• Oversee O&T spending to ensure the firm's finances are budgeted and spent according to the Chief Technology officer’s (CTO) technology strategies
• Manage overall execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the technology area
• Lead operational readiness and conformance to global operational standards for ongoing operation and support
• Utilize an in-depth understanding of how engineering integrates within technology and commercial awareness
• Responsible for training and coaching team members, performance management activities, monitoring quantity and quality of work, and addressing development needs for assigned personnel
• Make evaluative judgment based on analyzing information in complicated or unique situations; utilizing multiple sources of information
• Impact engineering through overseeing planning, finances / budget, end results and policy setting
• Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and with external parties, as required
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

• 10 plus years of relevant experience in an Engineering role
• Primary Theme - Secure AMI & VM image engineering, virtualization layer, serverless compute automation
• Cloud Focus - Virtualization & Image-Focused Engineer
• Kubernetes Skills - - Node-level expertise (Kubelet, container runtime tuning) - Building/optimizing custom node AMIs for EKS/GKE - Understanding of node pool scaling & upgrade compatibility - Debugging node performance & bootstrapping
• Infrastructure as a code - Terraform (strong),  Packer or EC2 Image Builder (must)
• Language - Go, Python, shell scripts
• Testing and Validation - Terratest for infra testing, BDD (Behave/pytest) , Image pipeline testing (vuln scans, CIS hardening)
• Serverless and event driven - Deep understanding of event driven patterns
• AWS: Event Bridge, Lambda, Step Functions
• GCP:  Cloud Functions, Eventarc, Pub/Sub
• People management Experience

Nice to have

• Ansible, Multi-cloud image pipelines, OS performance tuning

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred
