Commercial Bank - Senior Rrelationship Manager SVP (Business & Professional Services)
UK Citi Commercial Bank (UK CCB). Established in 2017. Provides commercial banking clients with global banking & financing solutions across a global banking network of 96 countries. We deliver thought leadership, extensive industry knowledge, local expertise and dedicated service support to UK headquartered Mid-Market companies with a global presence and annual revenues of $100m to $3bn.
The Business & Professional Services (B&PS) client coverage team provide dedicated relationship management to companies operating across a wide range of sectors across the B&PS industry, including Staffing, IT Services, Workplace Solutions, Business Process Outsourcing, Engineering & Construction, Infrastructure Services, Waste & Recycling, Law Firms, Consultancy, Accounting & Advisory, Third-Party Administrators, Travel Services, Distribution, Logistics and Government Contractors. UK CCB business partners include product specialists from Treasury Services (International Cash Management, Cards and Liquidity), Trade Services (Trade & Working Capital), Corporate Finance (incl UKEF), Markets, Debt Capital Markets, M&A, and Private Banking.
This is a new and exciting ‘Senior Relationship Banking’ role that has come on the back of strong client growth across the UK B&PS industry team over the past 24 months. This senior banking role will report to the UK Head of Business & Professional Services and support the banking and financing needs across a wide range of B&PS clients - publicly listed / privately owned / sponsor owned.
This role requires an experienced banker capable of driving business independently, with a strong emphasis on new client acquisition and market leadership. Primary responsibilities will include deepening the ‘banking wallet’ from existing client relationships, acquire new client relationships and represent the B&PS client coverage team across the external advisory/introducer market.
The successful candidate will have strong client relationship skills, an established network of clients (Treasury / C-Suite) and introducers across the UK commercial banking network and a proven track record in acquiring new business. Strong credit, financing and transaction execution skills are required. Commercial / Corporate Banking experience, alongside leverage finance experience, is preferred with good knowledge of Capital Markets and Advisory. Strong knowledge and connections across UK B&PS industry is preferred.
This role will be reporting to the UK Head of Business & Professional Services.
Key Skills & Responsibilities:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant relationship banking experience across Commercial Banking and the UK Business & Professional Services industry
- Self-originate new, multi-product and multi-country clients for UK CCB, and manage those relationship on an ongoing basis
- Strategically engage with client’s C-suite and maximise ‘One Citi’ client experience, by proactively leveraging and sharing Citi’s market leading insights, global network and solutions
- “Be the Best” for our clients’ by understanding and delivering on clients’ holistic treasury and strategic agenda. Be responsible for Client-level planning, budget and revenue responsibilities. Identify cross-sell opportunities to deepen and increase share of wallet
- Demonstrates expert level credit skills; capable of structuring all credit deals, coordinate and supervise the entire approval process ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the bank
- Strong legal documentation and transaction experience
- Collaborate and work closely with various product teams (cash sales, trade finance, markets, corporate finance), Underwriting / Risk teams, junior bankers on a daily basis, other CCB structures across the globe and Banking/Capital Markets teams to develop opportunities
- Develop and build strong relationships & engagement with key business introducers - debt advisors, corporate finance, legal, audit, industry associations and other key industry influencers. Build advocacy and gain market insight. Visible advocate of the UK CCB franchise across the external market
- Monitor and support products’ implementation processes, clients on-boarding process and manage sales CRM platform
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time. Verify adherence to global KYC (Know Your Customer) standards during the onboarding process and, on an ongoing basis, ensuring the appropriate compliance deliverables are met
- Team player who demonstrates strong and visible leadership skills, fosters a collaborative culture and promotes the coaching & development of other colleagues across the Commercial Bank
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (e.g. negotiation, consultative skills, leadership)
- Ability to coordinate multi-functional teams to provide an exceptional client experience
- Leadership opportunities across UK B&PS and Global B&PS industry teams
Education Level
Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
