EM Sales Trader
Citi is seeking an experienced industry candidate to work as part of the Equities Sales Trading team, to specifically cover the UK Long Only client base for both Developed European and Emerging markets
By joining Citi’s Cash Equity business, you will be part of one of the world’s largest cash equity franchises where you will be responsible for finding and providing liquidity for UK institutional clients. This role involves idea generation, cross product content delivery and the acquisition and provision of market intelligence.
This is a senior level hire, with the primary objective to generate commission, source liquidity and be a conduit for the customer base into the equity market. This is a unique opportunity to join a very successful team in a stable and successful business, working with other cross regional teams including Prime, Generalist/Specialist sales, Trading, Delta1, Equity Capital Markets and Derivatives.
What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:
As a key member of the desk, you will market Citigroup’s execution capabilities, contribute to team strategy, and deliver a high level of customer service across existing relationships as well as developing new relationships and then leveraging these across other desk and businesses.
You will be expected to be able to develop high-profile institutional accounts from acquisition to ownership and offer certain clients full sales trading plus trading coverage.
Own the internal cross-border relationships and help drive our international offering.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
What we will need from you:
Experience of working in a Sales, Sales Trading role with excellent product knowledge is essential, and candidates who do not have this will not be considered.
An in-depth knowledge of equity analysis, market dynamics and fundamentals as well as financial institutions, and the associated asset classes and products
You will be expected to have a strong technical understanding of equity trading, trading strategies, the marketplace and market issues.
Proven track record of successfully securing new business as well as monetising existing clients in the UK Long Only clients.
Excellent communication skills and clear demonstration of collaborating with and leveraging broader teams across your organisation.
Proven negotiation and persuasion skills and fluency in additional languages preferred.
You will be a self-starter, who can prioritise, and time manage effectively in an environment that requires the ability to react quicky to events and multitask, but also ensure attention to detail is not compromised.
You should be educated to degree level and display a strong academic background in a finance or mathematical related degree.
This is a role that will position you in front of high-profile external clients and continue to develop your technical product understanding, whilst at the same time providing internal visibility across many of the Citi markets desks, through day-to-day interactions as you look to develop a career within Citi

This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.
