Team Overview

As part of the recently created Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Data Governance Transformation Team, you will be part of a group that is responsible and accountable for the following:

  • Execute the Enterprise Risk Data and Tech transformation management data strategy.
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of consistent data management standards and capabilities to support the Enterprise Risk Management Framework across the enterprise and relevant businesses/functions/regions.
  • Define and prioritize data requirements across the respective ERM Pillars.
  • Create and deliver technology implementation roadmaps, ensuring that both business and regulatory requirements are met.

Role Overview

Sitting within the ERM Data & Technology Group within Data Risk Management, the ERM Data Governance & Data Program Team Lead is responsible for managing a team of execution specialists across different geographies to achieve the successful, on-time execution of Risk BCBS 239 Key Enterprise Risk Management Reporting Use Cases. This role will operate within the framework of the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) Data Operating Model, specifically focusing on:

  • Supporting the ERM Data Domain while enhancing data quality and data lineage governance across ERM Use Cases.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across Enterprise Risk Management and all respective risk category partner teams (Wholesale Credit, Retail Credit, Market Risk, Liquidity, Non-Traded Market, Operational, and Compliance. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a cross-functional environment without close supervision and with colleagues across different geographic locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ERM Data Quality and Lineage of key ERM BCBS reports, including the management of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and data quality concerns related to Risk Data Use Cases.
  • Develop and implement the data lineage strategy across the ERM domains, ensuring that all data flows are well-documented and traceable from source to final reporting.
  • Ensure that data lineage is captured consistently across systems, and facilitate the identification and resolution of data quality issues through regular audits and review processes.
  • Establish and maintain robust data quality frameworks across the ERM Use Case Execution team, working closely with the Data Quality organization to ensure the accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and integrity of data.
  • Lead data quality remediation efforts and work with cross-functional teams to resolve data quality issues, including the identification, classification, and governance of data elements.
  • Work closely with Data Owners and Technology Owners to ensure the development and implementation of data quality management policies and procedures, including continuous monitoring, reporting, and governance of data quality across risk domains.
  • Partner with Data Governance Leads to ensure that all artifacts are in line with Citi's data governance policies, including tracking data quality and lineage across use cases.
  • Ensure data lineage is adhered to, and all relevant stakeholders understand the flow of data across systems.
  • Manage Data Quality and Analytics team to build comprehensive processes for data quality measurement, monitoring, and reporting, and drive data quality assurance across risk management initiatives.
  • Responsible for Critical Data Elements rationalization, working alongside the ERM Data Lineage Lead and Domain Owner Delegate to ensure data consistency and accurate mapping across systems and processes.
  • Work with the ERM Data Governance Forum to ensure that any data-related issues, including data lineage discrepancies and data quality concerns, are raised, tracked, and resolved promptly.
  • Partner with business leaders and technology teams to enhance data governance, and identify and implement changes to data lineage for improved data quality across the ERM Use Case programs.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience as a senior delivery manager, with specific experience leading large-scale and data quality and data lineage initiatives.
  • 8+ years in the financial services industry, with a focus on data management, governance, and data lineage implementation.
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional data initiatives that involve the integration and governance of data quality processes and lineage tracking.
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders to implement data quality controls, resolve issues related to data integrity, and ensure effective data lineage.
  • Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of data governance, data quality, and data lineage in a large-scale financial institution.
  • Experience implementing data lineage solutions and working with technology partners to ensure data traceability across platforms and processes.
  • Extensive experience in transforming large, complex data programs and supporting the data governance framework with a focus on data quality and lineage.
  • Advanced domain knowledge of Data Governance methodologies, with a focus on data quality improvement and effective data lineage tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving data quality issues, including the establishment of remediation processes, monitoring, and reporting of data-related concerns.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, risk platforms, and governance frameworks.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of data lineage, including techniques to trace data from source systems to final consumption points.
  • Expertise in data quality management and its impact on risk reporting and financial regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, particularly in managing data quality and lineage concerns across complex systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with global teams and communicate complex data quality and lineage issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in data governance and data quality initiatives, ensuring alignment with business and regulatory objectives.

The Data Governance Foundation Sr. Group Manager is a senior level role managing a team responsible for facilitating all aspects of the Enterprise Data Governance Strategy, and/or Data Risk and Control Framework and Data Risk Taxonomy. This role is responsible for defining the enterprise data governance strategy and/or Data Risk and Controls framework and roadmap, including alignment with related enterprise-wide and business/function/region data governance documentation. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary.  


Responsibilities:

  • Full management responsibility for a team or multiple teams, including management of people, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval 
  • Liaise with business/function/regional partners to understand and align Data Governance, and/or Data Risk and Control related work
  • Manage and lead Data Governance, and/or Data Risk and Control, policy, practices, and standards including industry best practices
  • Drive progress, and provide guidance for adherence and continued development of enterprise-wide guiding policies, practices and standards
  • Develop materials to effectively and concisely articulate progress on the Data Governance strategy and/or Data Risk and Control framework for senior leadership and regulatory updates
  • Liaise with metrics team to articulate clear requirements for objective measures necessary to support Data Governance storylines with key stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services, with 8-10+ years' managerial experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Strategic mindset, with ability to foresee future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies
  • Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels
  • Can effectively lead change in an organization with Citigroup’s size, scale and complexity; Experience leveraging the processes and principles of change management to drive organizational change, defining change criteria, providing support and education, managing resistance, and measuring outcomes
  • Manage through ambiguity by making sense of complex, high quantity and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizations; and demonstrates effective work relationships with business and global function colleagues
  • Experience creating and executing against frameworks that improve the quality and value of data to meet regulatory commitments and enhance risk management. Experience leveraging glossary, lineage, and data quality tools to drive governance
  • Experience creating and being a champion for a positive risk culture that supports sustainable business growth through transparent engagement, a partnership approach, and a no-tolerance approach for behavior that exposes the organization to an inappropriate amount of risk
  • Understanding of the overall regulatory environment and previous experience working with regulators on data plan execution, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Citi’s Data Operating Model
