VP - Investment Banker - LATAM - NEW YORK
The Debt Capital Markets VP Banker is a senior level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the credit markets—including syndicated loan market and debt capital markets—as well as in providing strategic advisory services in the context of acquisition financings, liability management, and infrastructure financing, among other types of financial transactions, working in coordination with other product partners in the corporate and investment banking teams. The overall objective of this role is to act as a team leader during transaction execution as well as strategic advisor to our clients by formulating debt raising and liability management strategies for our Latin American clients.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with institutional clients (sovereigns, corporates, and financial institutions) on financing transactions and guide them through the capital raising process, including leading due diligence and drafting sessions and preparing them for a debt offering or a syndicated loan;
- Collaborate with clients, senior-level team members and outside professional advisors on capital raising and special situation transactions;
- Provide advisory services regarding corporate finance topics including capital raising, risk management, acquisition financing, valuation, and capital deployment;
- Lead presentation of credit analyses for internal committees in support of credit underwriting and capital markets transactions;
- Lead a team of associates and analysts in charge of preparing financial analysis, financial modeling, credit underwriting, valuation, and strategic debt advisory for clients;
- Responsible for leading the drafting of situation analyses, pitch materials, information memoranda, investor and management presentations and oversee work being performed by analysts & associates assigned to projects;
- Travel to Latin America in the context of deal execution and/or pitching for up to 25% of the time;
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience
- Experience in the Financial Services industry, specifically within Investment Banking / DCM
- Degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration
- Comprehensive knowledge of the corporate banking business and its related products, pertinent regulations and lending and credit approval processes
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with and presenting to corporate clients, as well as with capital markets products, derivatives, credit, and securities products
- Proven experience working on high-paced environments, including management of simultaneous assignments
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
- Series 7, 79, and 63 required within 90 days of start date
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- MBA or master’s degree in business or related disciplines preferred
