Corporate Banker, Director – Sydney or Melbourne
We’re seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our Australian Corporate Banking team either in Sydney or Melbourne. This role offers an opportunity to manage and grow relationships, with a portfolio of key corporate clients, driving strategic dialogue, delivering comprehensive banking solutions, and contributing to Citi’s success.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned banking professional with a deep understanding of corporate finance, transaction banking, and capital markets products. They will be responsible for originating new business, cross-selling Citi’s extensive product suite, and ensuring exceptional client relationship management, while adhering to all credit, regulatory and internal compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of key corporate clients
Manage and deepen long-term relationships with C-suite executives and senior management
Understand client strategic objectives, financial needs, and industry challenges
Achieve financial objectives by leveraging Citi’s full spectrum of products and services
Business Development & Origination
Proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell Citi’s product solutions across Banking, Markets, and Treasury and Trade Solutions
Collaborate with product partners and global teams to deliver integrated solutions to our clients
Lead the origination, structuring, and execution of complex transactions and financings
Identify and pursue new client relationships where Citi is uniquely positioned to meet their banking needs
Credit & Risk Management
Actively manage credit exposure and associated risks within the client portfolio
Allocate capital prudently and in accordance with Citi’s overall shareholder return objectives
Ensure compliance with Citi’s credit policies, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements
Market & Industry Knowledge
Keep abreast of market trends, industry developments, and the competitive landscape
Provide insights and thought leadership to clients on relevant financial, economic and industry topics
Leadership and Team Collaboration
Foster a collaborative environment with product partners, risk management and global teams
Act as a mentor and leader to our junior team members
Contribute to the overall strategic direction, culture and success of the Corporate Bank in Australia
Skills and Experiences Required:
Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in corporate banking, investment banking, or a related financial services role, with a focus on large corporate clients
Proven track record of originating and executing complex financial transactions
Deep understanding of corporate finance principles, capital markets, and transaction banking products
Strong credit analysis skills and a solid understanding of risk management
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships at a senior level
Strategic thinker with a proven ability to identify solutions to client problems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
MBA or Master's degree preferred
