We establish and maintain the enterprise risk management framework that ensures the ability to consistently identify, measure, monitor, control and report material aggregate risks.
We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Vice President, Credit Risk Officer - Sydney (Internal Job Title: Credit Portfolio Officer - C13) based in Sydney, Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for a high caliber professional to join our team as a Credit Risk Officer covering the Financial Institutions Group & Counterparty Credit Risk (FIG&CCR) portfolio, based in Sydney, Australia.
FIG&CCR is part of the Banking & International Risk (BIR) group, which oversees risk management of Wholesale Credit, International and Legacy Franchises. BIR provides second line of defense oversight, review and challenge over our lending and counterparty credit activities globally. We collaborate with our key partners in the first line of defense, including Institutional Credit Management (ICM) function to manage capabilities across our Wholesale Credit businesses, underpinned by a common Wholesale Credit Risk Framework and Policy.
In this role, you’re expected to:
- Support the risk coverage of the Financial Institutions and Counterparty Credit (FIG&CCR) Portfolio for Australia & New Zealand, including by taking direct responsibilities for some counterparties and sub-portfolios, reporting to the Australia/New Zealand Cluster Head for FIG&CCR.
- Be responsible for the review and challenge of financial analysis, risk assessment and credit structure recommendation for cash flow lending products and counterparty credit limits.
- Make recommendations or provide approvals to mitigate Counterparty Credit Risk including collateral management, netting agreements, and credit derivatives.
- Facilitate negotiation, review and challenge and approval of exceptions relating to master trading agreements, collateral agreements, and other legal documents to ensure proper risk mitigation.
- Supplement analysis with research and evaluations from a wide variety of sources to develop an assessment of client, competitor/ industry risks and trends for senior management.
- Monitor the assigned credit portfolio and complete periodic reviews, maintaining a thorough understanding of the content and aggregate risks within the portfolio, trends and other key statistics.
- Monitor and manage exceptions on counterparty exposure limits and concentrations.
- Support the Australia/New Zealand Cluster Head and the Australia Chief Risk Officer (CRO) meeting regulatory expectations, new regulation implementation and handling queries from local regulators.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:
Qualifications:
- 5 to 8+ years of credit and analytical experience required.
- Proven track record of successfully overseeing financial institutions risk portfolios in the FIG&CCR space.
- Strong product knowledge and understanding, e.g. swaps, futures, and repurchase agreements, as well as the agreements that govern them such as International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA)/Credit Support Annex (CSA) and Global Master Repurchase Agreement (GMRA).
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, characterized by a high volume of time-sensitive approvals, which requires proactivity and strong prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level and occasionally with clients.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within role.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
