ORM - Processing Risk Analytics Lead
The Operational Risk Senior Group Manager is a strategic professional who leverages their knowledge of more general Operational Risk research and developments to adapts them for application to Processing Risk across Citi (focusing on manual processes performed in the service of the firm’s key businesses).The individual is also expected to have extensive prior experience in Operational Risk in a large, diverse financial services firm.
The work will require highly developed communication and diplomacy skills in order to guide, influence and come to agreement with others, in particular colleagues in other areas.Accountable for developing and providing bothCiti wide and more granular views of Processing Risk – quantitative and qualitative.The individual should be familiar with working with large relatively homogeneous data sets as well as with more highly differentiated, higher risk data.They will interact with both 1st LoD and 2nd LoD to measure, track and oversee the remediation of Processing Risk.They will be expected to build a wide network of contacts across the firm’s businesses and Operations Risk Management.Responsible for managing a staff located in Tampa and Belfast including all key manager responsibilities:book of work planning, execution, tracking, record keeping; career development, performance evaluation; collaboration with the other main groups within Processing Risk .As a second line function, manager will also be responsible for ensuring that the work performed conforms with and satisfies all firmwide and ORM specific policies and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Work with other members of the larger team to update and implement Processing Risk Policy, Standards and Procedures (define increasing levels of specificity) across Citi, in particular as they relate to the measurement of Processing risk and the identification of the most risky areas in the firm
- Partner with the 1st line of defense to maintain current Key Indicators, to continue to challenge and enhance them and to develop new analytical frameworks and Indicators as required by changing areas of focus or in the composition of risks
- Continue to develop holistic ways to measure Processing Risk across Citi’s diverse span of businesses so that outstanding Processing risk can be compared over time and disaggregated to identify key themes and concentrations
- Facilitate accurate, sustainable reporting of operational risks to senior management and the Board of Directors
- Analyze operational risk data (typically losses, metrics and assessment results) to identify areas of high risk and to ensure that mitigation efforts are having the desired effect(s) on risk impact
- Identify metrics that are deviating from trend or breaching established thresholds and escalate situations that pose excessive risk(s)
- Identify root causes of major internal losses as well as near miss events and ensure actions are taken to reduce the risk of loss from similar causes
- Summarize results periodically to senior management forums, regulators, identifying key trends and areas of focus
- Apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, including escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others
Qualifications:
- The Processing Risk Metrics and Analytics Lead should have significant experience with the extraction and analysis of both large and small, complex data sets, a working knowledge of statistics and relational databases
- Experienced in Operational Risk.Knowledge of other risk disciplines (market risk, credit risk) a plus
- Demonstrated analytical ability; asks insightful questions, breaks analytical challenges into workable components and draws meaningful conclusions. Well versed in simplifying complex matters into core issues that can be more readily addressed.Familiar with using and developing taxonomies to clarify causes, impacts, themes
- Track record in developing and implementing new ideas to mitigate risk and improve current processes
- Prioritizes high impact potential problems effectively
- Effective communicator able to gain senior colleague/ client commitment
- Track record of managing global teams
- Operates as a leader, with an understanding and appreciation for diverse backgrounds
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
- At least 15 years extensive Risk management and managerial experience
The candidate will have significant, senior level experience developing, implementing, and communicating wholesale framework and process transformation initiatives to support regulatory responses and business process optimization with a focus on the reduction of Processing Risk.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
