Team/Role Overview
The Global Legal Chief Data Office co-ordinates the data governance activities for Citi’s Legal function and, working closely with Legal colleagues across the globe, has responsibility for our multi-year data transformation initiative. The identification and retention of our key business information, through our Records Management Program, and ensuring the proper management of personal information entrusted to us, through our Privacy Program, are key elements of our data governance responsibilities.
What you’ll do
- Provide co-ordination and subject-matter expertise to all staff in the Global Legal function on the implementation of the Records Management Program.
- Fulfil the role of Records Management Program Lead for a section of Global Legal, driving policy compliance and the timely remediation of any identified gaps.
- Maintain and develop relationships with partners across the Global Legal Function and with the central Records Management team
- Drive the standardization of approach in the identification of critical records, and consistency in storage and deletion processes held in hardcopy and structured/unstructured electronic formats.
- Develop subject-matter expertise in the Citi Privacy Program and related processes, and provide guidance to Global Legal staff on policy compliance.
- Assess, prioritize and drive the implementation of organizational Records Management, Privacy and Model Risk Management initiatives impacting the department.
- Contribute to the development of scope and strategy of departmental data governance, with particular emphasis on the identification of opportunities to unify approaches across disparate data governance disciplines.
- Identify and follow up of control weaknesses identified through internal testing or other sources, collaboration with issue owners in the definition of robust action plans
- Monitor and develop relevant metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Records Management and Privacy Programs
What we’ll need from you
- Experience in a related operational risk or audit role, with direct experience of risk identification, management, and remediation.
- Exposure to general data governance disciplines, including the maintenance of critical records, data retention policies and cross-border data flows.
- Background of working in a complex, multi-national operating environment, preferably related to financial services.
- Direct knowledge of global privacy regulation, including GDPR and CCPA, is highly desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the capability to analyse complex datasets
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written skills, with the ability to present to and influence senior management.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives
- High degree of initiative and personal accountability, self-starter and highly motivated
