The Sec & Derivatives Sr Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for processing orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to facilitate the clearance, settlement and investigation of client securities and derivatives transactions.

Business Overview / Position Objective

Citi Global Markets Japan is seeking a candidate to join the Futures, Clearing & Derivatives (FDC) Operations team. The individual will be required to perform operations activities such as trade clearing, reconciliations, margin calls, and client services.

This role is a contract position to assist with the delivery of a significant change program of work that is currently taking place in this area. The candidate will work closely with the existing team to manage daily workloads and project deliverables.

The candidate should have a strong background and relevant experience of Listed Futures and OTC Clearing products, with the ability to work within a team, therefore strong communication skills, as well as be able to work automatously.

The candidate will be responsible for key tasks within the group and will need to be aware of regulatory impact, have a strong risk and control mindset and the ability to escalate promptly.  

Using strong communication skills, work closely with front office, IT, finance, compliance, and other Operations groups both within the region and globally.  As and when needed, the candidate is expected to proactively handle ad-hoc queries from stakeholders and the ability to investigate, communicate and trouble shoot issues.

The candidate will have regular interactions with Singapore team through performing daily tasks. It is a great opportunity to have global experiences by exposing to counterparts outside of Japan.

The candidate will also have an opportunity to participate in various projects including system enhancements, automation/digitization, and new business initiatives in accordance with their level of experience and development.  

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • CCP Margin (JSCC/TFX): Manage daily Initial Margin and Variation Margin requirement & payments with domestic exchanges, affiliates, and clients on listed future products. 
  • Client Margin: Mange margin statements to domestic clients, affiliates and monitor settlement.
  • Trade Management: Ensure that trades are captured correctly in the booking system by performing trade reconciliation with exchanges and clients.
  • Reconciliations: Perform exchange reconciliation, General Ledger reconciliations and account substantiation.
  • Client Services: Handle Japanese clients’ inquiries on JPX /TFX exchange listed products.
  • Project Engagement: Be involved in market initiatives and system enhancements as Subject Matter Expert.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Global Listed derivative and OTC Clearing knowledge and experience is strongly preferred. JSCC / TFX experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Fluent in both English and Japanese languages.
  • Experiences of working with global stakeholders on projects is preferred.
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks in fast-paced environment and under time pressure.
  • Pay attention to detail and can accurately perform regular tasks.
  • Team player and excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships both internally and externally to collaborate effectively. 
  • Self-starter - Proactively take on tasks. Ask questions when it is not clear. Willing to get involved in new initiatives.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
